On 16th March 2017 Tandridge District Council (TDC) Planning Policy Committee adopted a Preferred Strategy to be followed in preparation of the Local Plan. That Strategy listed 5 sites, including the land at Chaldon, Alderstead and Tollsworth Farm, as possible locations for develepment of a scale that could accord with the principle of a garden village.
Chaldon Village Council has taken responsibility to carry out a full Site Assessment considering environmental, economic and social priorities. In addition, it has considered the extraordinary historical significance of the land and its importance to local, regional and national communities.The Site Assessment has been sent to TDC Planning Deptartment and other interested bodies including local MPs and Councillors.

Your Council's open letter to Cllr Martin Fisher, Leader of Tandridge District Council, following the announcement that land to the west of Chaldon (inc. Tollsworth, Alderstead Heath, Chaldon Court Farm) is on the list for consideration as a Garden Village site is here.
The letter has been copied to the local MP Sam Gyimah; Louise Round, Chief Executive of Tandridge District Council; Cllr Pat Cannon, Chaldon's District Councillor.
Cllr Robbins attended the Tandridge District Council Planning Policy meeting on 16 March and read out questions, drafted by Cllr Milton, on the inclusion of this site in the list of potential sites for development. Questions and response document.
